Playing against a tilting player.

Postby Rhound50 » Sat Sep 03, 2005 2:00 pm

I played this hand last night live NL 1/3 $300 max. To set some back ground this guy has been playing poorly, as has most of the table. This guy called a raise with 83s and rivered a flush to beat an equally poorly played KK. He took another guys stack when he caught running boat, and his opponant called his all in with top pair weak kicker. So he has $450 or so and i have him covered. Than the fun hand. Flop a pair and check call his bet. I back into the nut flush, check raise him all in on the river, he thinks about it and calls with a str8 and I take his stack. He gets up fuming and stomps away.

Now comes the hand that is bothering me. He rebuys and has been playint every pot and playing like he is tilting. I limp with AQ, the flop comes 1074 it checks around. Turn is a Q, he bets $10. I raise to $25, he goes all in for $300. I put him on a hand like KQ or KJ, I decide to call. I usually dont make big calls with TPTK like this I really thought he was tilting. He ended up having the monster Q7 and I lost. I am happy I trusted my read for a change though it was wrong, what do you guys think.

As usual I spent most of the trip home replaying the hand in my head.

i wouldn't do it because a tilting player could also be playing many hands that caught two pair like Q7 and Q4. I prefer a lower variance game though.

IMHO, a tilting player is basically a temporary maniac.

I want to put a manaica/tilter all in, I don't want to call an all in.

I usually want more than TPTK because that's usually what he'll call an all in with.

NOTE: Playing maniacs is a weakness in my game so grain of salt on aforementioned words.
