PFR--A New Way to Read?

Postby T-Rod » Sun Jul 10, 2005 8:47 pm

I play mostly 6-max where there is much more raising and action. I've noticed that I no longer just look at a person's PFR to determine what type of hands he/she raises.

I look at number of hands raised divided by number of hands played (basically VPIP)

I shoot to raise 50% of the hands I play, and I respect anyone with such a ratio.

Does anyone else look at this?

The reason I look at this is say you have two players both with a pfr of 20% (wow thats high even for 6-max). Well if player A has a VPIP of 25% he's probably raising most of the hands he plays and I can know that I'm up against a premium hand. Now say player b has a VPIP of 70%. Well he's not really raising that much because he's in so many hands. He probably raises with less premium hands imo.
