need advice about making transition from 100 NL to 200 NL

Postby Starkes » Mon Nov 14, 2005 12:16 am

I am a 100 NL multi-tabler and my bankroll has recently hit the 4k mark so I've tried moving up to 200 NL. These are full ring games.

Are there any adjustments I should make to my game? Or should I just stick with how I play 100 NL?

I have only played 1.7k hands but here are some observations I have made:

Players are more likely to fold top pair and big draws so maybe I should start playing big draws more agressively. This might mean firing a barrel on the turn in order to represent a big hand or check raising on the flop.

Players are much more aggressive therefore I should trap/check raise more. I should also go to the showdown more with weaker hands.

KK and AA are not near as powerful as they are at 100 NL. If someone goes all in for a large amount on the flop, they almost always have two pair or better. At 100 NL I would almost always get myself all in with AA or KK on a ragged board after raising pre flop and had much success but at 200 it seems like people are less likely to raise all in with top pair or a weak overpair.

Are any of these assessments correct? Or am I just over analyizing things? Any kind of insight from an experiened 200 NL player would be much appreciated!

What was your win rate at NL$100?[/quote]

Its around 6ptbb/100. In the last 10k hands I have played it is around 8ptbb/100.
