Oi, 3 more hands for comment...

Postby BigPhish » Tue Jun 21, 2005 6:47 pm

Well, 2 for comment, 1 just to show off. Man I love NL! Why did I alllow myself to suffer through Limit for so long?

All hands at $10 max buy-in (.10/.20) on Prima ( so no converter :( )

Hand 1: Slowplaying an Aggressive

I had identified my villain as very aggressive. He was big stack at the table for a reason. He had no problem moving in. He seemed to be driven by ego. So here's my first double-up on him. Looking for comments on my play, given my read.

Hero at $15 or so
Villain at over $40 or so

Hero is in BB with [As][Qs]
Villain is MP1 (UTG is empty seat)

Villain calls, MP2 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, Button calls, SB completes, Hero checks

Flop ($.60) [8c][Js][Kd]

SB checks, Hero checks, Villain bets .40, MP2 folds, CO folds, Button calls, SB calls, Hero calls

Turn ($2.20) [2h]

SB checks, Hero checks, Villain bets .40, Button calls, SB calls, Hero calls

River ($3.80) [Ts]

SB checks, Hero bets .75 (Just enough to look weak and ping Villain's ego), Villain raises to 1.50 (Got 'im), BB folds, SB folds, Hero all-in for $14.15, Villain calls.

Result
Villain mucks [Jc][Ks] for two pair
Big Phish takes down his biggest pot ever (well, so far anyway) at $45.95

Hand 2: He's got a King?

At these limits, I like my queens (I actually had the ladies 3 times in 2 hours at this table, stacking folks on two of them). But this guy played back much too hard for me to continue. Did he have the flush draw or a King? Or aces? Or he bluffed my shorts off?

Hero has something like $17
Villain has around $9

Hero is on Button with [Qh][Qd]
Villain is UTG

Villain calls, MP1 calls, 3 folds, Hero raises to .60, SB folds, BB calls, Villain calls, MP1 folds

Flop ($1.95) [2c][5d][Kd]

SB checks, Villain bets .40 (Typical for flush draw, I'm coming over the top.), Hero raises to $1.20, SB folds, Villain calls

Turn ($4.35) [Th]

Villain bets 2.25, Hero folds

He hasn't bet like that all night. I haven't been pushed off a pot all night. He had every reason to believe I'd raise. I think he had me beat. What do you think?

Hand 3: Clearing the Table

Same villain as the first hand, above. This will be my 3rd and final all-in against him. Following this hand, everyone left the table. I guess that means I forgot my deodarant today? Really, this is my show-off hand. Feels good to clear a table, I guess. Yum yum!

Table is short-handed at 4.

Hero has something over $50
Villain (same as first hand) has something around $20

Hero in SB with [Ks][Kd]
Villain in BB
Muppets in CO and Button

CO calls, Hero raises to .60, Villain raises to 5.70, CO goes all-in for 10.50, Hero goes all-in for $50.85, Villain goes all-in for $20.48

Villain shows [8d][8s]
CO shows [Qd][Kh] (Huh? That's worth 10 bucks?)

Flop / Turn / River ($51.46) [5d][Ah][4s] / [Kc] / [6s]

Result:
Big Phish wins biggest pot to date with three Kings, $51.16

...so I'm sitting at a $10 table with $82 waiting for someone to come take my money... for an hour... nobody. :(

Doh, looking at hand 2 again, I had him. He was betting the flush draw. Damn. :(

Hand #1
That's an ugly call on the flop with just a gutshot, unless you're sure you'll stack him when you hit. On the turn the call is more reasonable since he makes the stupid newbie mistake of not betting relative to pot size. Nice river play and congrats :)

Hand #2
I would have played it exactly the same. Good raise preflop, good raise on the flop. I expect Villain has KT or a K anyway most if the time, good fold.

Hand #3
Well people at these limits are muppets. Someone called all-in today with J2s. What can you do?

One question, why do you only raise to $.60 preflop or 3xbb? I think you should be raising to at least $.80. Just a suggestion.
