Low set on straight board

Stylis is loose. Standard table, ie: loose. People have around the buy-in, I have them covered. If anyone is paying attention, I am playing tight.

I feel I play this all wrong. The bet on the flop is right, but I might as well bet the turn. If he calls on the flop he should either have an 8 or something like a two-pair/set (or slowplaying J8), that 8 can't possibly help him other than pairing him, so I should have bet the turn. The river I'm not likely to get called by anything I beat, and if I get check-raised I can't call.. so why am I betting? Bleh. I'm really tired and shouldn't have added my comments, feel free to disregard them and just give me your unbiased opinion.
