With your read I would fold - you're ahead of what, QJ? The bets seem like value bets to keep you in the pot and he just gave up the option to see your hand for free. This tells me he's got a hand better than QJ. Even though you are getting a good price to showdown I wouldn't expect to win against *this* player enough to call it.

The caveat here is you gave him all the reason in the world to push you off this pot. You made a continuation bet after your raise and then checked the turn when he called. This looks a lot like AK. If he likes to make moves on players it might be a close call getting those odds but given everything else you know about him I would fold.

well, i was the villain and thought the flop bet was just a continuation and thought I had some of his respect. I had A9 of hearts and had straight and flush outs on the turn. I had to bet the river to win since he seemed to reluctantly call the turn.

As far as maybe not betting enough, its possible but in the casino, people don't often take the size of the pot into the account. They just see $50 and that's a big bet. It doesn't matter if they are getting 3:1 or better on the call.

Stupid bluff? If you were playing me (assuming a tight, solid player :D ) could you call against me?

don't like the weak bet on the turn. I'd check behind, take my free card, and then bluff the river if he checks again.

If you are going to bet it, stick the full pot in (and then check the river if he calls - he's not giving up). As it turned out, you just bloated the pot and made his river call easier for JJ, TT (KQ's not going anywhere anyway).

I might well play KQ like that, and I'd have beat you into the pot with the call on the river.

I'd put you on AQ, KQ, QJ, 89, A6, A7, with a small chance of a big hand. The turn bet (in particular) was too weak for a made hand to be likely.

I'd have folded to a turn raise though if I had bet the turn.

A question for you ... what hand range do you put him on (i) on the flop (ii) more importantly on the turn? Cos that's quite important, but you haven't mentioned it anywhere. Also suspiciously missing is any sort of read on the guy you're trying to bluff...

I put him on AK or JJ-TT as I thought that flop bet was a continuation bet. I didn't expect him to check KQ on the turn so I thought he missed. When he reluctantly called the turn, I figured he didn't like his hand and I could push him off.
