Leading into PFR?

Postby Zuccala » Tue Nov 15, 2005 11:32 am

Hey guys,

Let say u call a PFR with a hand like 88,99,TT and the flop is all unders. Do u like leading into the PFR to see if he is on overcards or an overpair. Then letting go if u encounter some resistance. I think this will also help camoflague when u hit a set and lead into him as well.

I think this is cheaper than going for a C/R on the flop and gives u the same information.
Any opinions?Thanks

Sure, but what do you do if he calls and it comes another under? You have to be working on a read of the player in order to decide what you want to to...would he call with overcards?

That's exactly what I do. I will also sometimes bet into the PFR if the flop is safe, even if im holding a pretty marginal hand. ie, PFR raises to 3BB and i call with 66, flop comes 478 rainbow, if the PFR is a solid player then there's almost no hand he can have which hit that flop (88 or 77 maybe, again, player dependant) so it's usually good to throw out a probe bet there too.
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

Sure he may not have a card that hit that flop...maybe he didn't NEED to hit the flop (99-AA).

I have very mixed feeling on this subject. Most of the time if I do not set I am done with the hand. At the level I play (NL50) I get calls from over cards and then on the Turn I have to check, then he checks behind me.

Now the river comes an over card. What do you do now OOP?

You check and he bets?

I guess that I bet into the PFR with overcards (TT,99,88) about 50% of the time because I have seen players raise with just over cards if there are limpers.
