Ladies and a bad flop????

Postby Rhound50 » Sat Aug 06, 2005 2:11 am

This was a weird hand. I get QQ utg and limp trying to trap the maniac that is in MP in this hand. Instead I get a raise from a very solid player. I like to reraise here with Q's and try to get a better idea what I am up against. Usually I fold to a reraise and figure I am ahead of anything else, bu this guy is really solid and I was thinking 1010 or JJ after he jsut calls. The flop is very not helpfull, now the only thing I beat is AK or maybe 99. I have notes that this player likes to limp AK. My question here is is this a stupid flop bet? After looking at it I think the only realistic hand I beat here is 99, with an outside chance of AK or AQ. AS weird as it sounds should I check fold this flop??

Not something I would have gotten away from.

If you're gonna call that river bet anyway, I say go ahead and bet the turn to protect against something like [Ah][Kh]

LOL Kenny thats funny the All in is actaully a comment made by one of the dumbass's at the table at the time. I would have folded to any river bet. I checked and he checked behind me.

I'll fix it in my post, I cant make the damn hand converter work so I keep having to post hand histories.

ahhh ok..gotcha. :)

I probably would have played it the same. I might not have reraised preflop...but that's certainly not a big deal.

I'd reraise more (to $10 at least, probably $12). This (i) might tempt AA or KK into coming back over the top (ii) should eliminate hands like AJ/med pocket pairs (iii) makes it easier getting your stack into the middle on a raggy board vs JJ.

QQ vs pre-flop raiser on a board TJx is not a pretty sight.

If AK/AQ is possible you have to bet the flop, but when he calls I think you can save your last $20 by folding the turn/river. [EDIT - ah the post has changed, you did!?]

(It would have been easier to claim some credibility saying this if you hadn't posted the results of course!)

If AJ is possible I guess you have to go broke on the turn ... but a solid player presumably wouldn't call pre-flop with that?

Kenny I think if you played at a lower level you would probably in the habit of reraising. There are very few players who will fold after making the second raise on the $50 tables. So I play it a little differently than I do in bigger games. In some of the bigger games it is very very rare to see an all in with QQ vs AA or KK. On the $50 tables you see QQ all in preflop all the time.

Agreed, some people seem to play anything from AA-TT the same preflop so it makes it hard to narrow down hands sometimes.

I think the limp reraise has saved you some money in this hand has the other guy cannot feel as good about his kings as he might had he just called your raise. AA is a big possibilty for you as JJ might be. I like these plays at $50NL since many players are weak and take pride in their "laydowns", just gives you more ways to win.
