Empire $100NL 6-max

MP ($100)
Hero ($95)
Button ($74.63)
SB ($61.65)
BB ($99)
UTG ($75.50)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [Tc], [Jc]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
1 fold, MP calls $1, Hero calls $1, Button calls $1, SB (poster) raises $1.5, BB calls $1, MP calls $1, Hero calls $1, Button calls $1.

Flop: ($10) [Jd], [5c], [Ac] (5 players)
SB bets $3, BB raises to $9, MP folds, Hero ???

any reads? What caliber are these guys?

I'm not playing 6max, but I'd worry about the SB having Aces more than the BB being a threat. The $3 bet is fishy on that flop - seems like an invitation for a reraise. And that $9 reraise is also fishy - rather small I'd say.

I fold. You can't call since SB very likely will push. And BB just might sit on 55 so I think you have zero fold equity should you try to muscle it, eventhough you are a lion!

What happened?

sorry - forgot he miniraised PF...
SB is not on AA, probably AK. But he may still push though if you call. I still fold.

even if he does push anybody who minraises preflop will call an allin with less than stellar holdings (because they suck) and you will be getting 3:1 for chasing a flush draw. High variance sure but you are getting odds plus you have a pair and have alot of outs against ak or other one pair hands . so you may actually be favored here.[/list]

I raised to 25. Only SB calls.

Turn is 6[c].

I checked. He bet $10 and I pushed. He called with A[d] K[h]

River was a blank and I took it down.

I'm not sure if I would have re-raised there, but I definately would have called the $9 and would have been willing to call all-in with that flop. You are probably beat after that flop and this way if you miss it will cost you less. If you aren't willing to go all-in with that flop, don't play J-10 suited against a raise.

My read was the guy had an ace. The min raise preflop seems to usually be Axs or low pockets.

That being said, I'm either raising or folding that flop. I chose to raise and play it fast. Lucky.

The beauty of raising is few people do that with a draw. Hence, the AK puts me on an ace and he thinks his K kicker is good.

Basically, I'm playing for his entire stack. Pure pot odds has it at almost 50/50. With implied odds I'm +EV.
