Interesting hand, what do you do here????

Postby Rhound50 » Mon Jul 04, 2005 3:20 pm

I am in the BB of a 1/2 $200 max at MGM. I have $300 and villian 1 more than has me covered. I have [7h] [5h] in the BB, I check and the flop is almost perfect [6h] [8h] [5d] do I have an open ended str8 flush draw, and bottom pair. I decide to bet the flop and build a pot. I also want to know if some has 79 for a made str8. I bet out $20 and get 2 callers. Turn is the an offsuit 9. Making my str8, I love this card because if someone had 79 on the flop we both now have the same str8. I check, 2nd players checks, Villian 1 bets $40. Now I have to decide how I want to play this. I decide to push all in. The only hand that beats me is 710 who had an opened to the nut top end. My reasoning here is that someone with a naked 7 is going to call me here almost evert time and In that case I'm free rolling a massive overbet, if I get someone to fold a 7, thats fine too. Any thoughts this is an interesting situation, that is pretty specific and isnt something will happen all that often.

Well first...edit the post..you put an offsuit ten instead of offsuit 9 :)

I like the all-in..it pushes the other flush draws out and if a lone 7 calls you...you're drawing to a good number of outs to take the whole thing.

I'm guessing you mean an off suit 9, not T coming on the turn.

I think you played it well. Most of the time you'll be free-rolling or ahead, and if you don't push you may not get paid off if the flush hits on the river. If someone folds a 7, that's even better. The only danger I can see is that checking the turn can give a free card to someone drawing at a higher flush.

I also think you're probably tied or ahead, so pushing all in is a good move. If you take the pot there it's ok as well. I've seen a lot of flush chasers in the b&m games, so you might get called by a higher flush draw, but you have 2 flush cards so they don't have that many outs.
