2/4 NL

I play pretty semi lag now, and everyone at the tables bitch about it. This guy like 2 hours earlier was exclaiming to a guy that i bet too much constantly, and that he was gonna get me. I didn't respond, but i did make some notes.

The following hand ensued:

Dealt AKo in the SB. Two limpers to me, I raise to $20. The BB (villian mentioned earlier) calls. The two limpers fold.

FLOP$48
A38 rainbow

I bet $40. Opponent calls quickly.

TURN$128
A383
I bet $80. Opponent calls quickly.

RIVER $288
A383J

ugh...didn't like that card but wasn't sure what to do. I bet $100. He thinks for a while and calls.

He shows AJo for two pair and the 3 outer. :)

I wonder if he changed his notes on me. It was a sin fo him not to raise that river, btw.

checking that turn is still a better play i wouldve thought..
i think he wouldve checked behind as it looks like he made up his mind to check call you down with his weak kicker..
then the standard check call the river if its not oversized

Not giving free cards is sucky when your opponent has a lot of outs. Your opponent here has 3 freakin outs. If he checks behind on the turn, its far from the end of the world. In fact as long as he doesnt hit his kicker you've gained yourself a certain river value bet. He'll think he is making some nice river call against the maniac since you checked the turn. I still think more often than not he would bet the turn for you if you checked. Seriously, the flop is A83 rainbow and he called your flop bet. How could he NOT have an Ace with a worse kicker? But what do I know, I'm just a limit hold em player.

“The real things to know is that folks will stand to lose more than they will to win. That’s the most important percentage there is. I mean, if they lose, they’re willin’ to lose everything. If they win, they’re usually satisfied to win enough to pay for dinner and a show. The best gamblers know that.” - Pug Pearson

I think he called too quick in on both the turn and river to be a set.

I mean usually when you get a set you don't instantly call, you pause for a second to think about how to maximize value. this guy was caller very quickly.

A check raise is a good opiton on the turn and i'm not discounting it.
I think betting or check raising in either instance is fine.

If i made it mistake, it would have to be the river bet.
