I deserve a proper berating for this hand, one of the worst I've played in awhile.

about 4 people limp to me in the SB, I have Kings. pot is right now 11, I raise to 14, to drive people out and put in a bit more because I am out of position, douchebag calls.

The flop is Q46, 2 spades, pot is now 36, I bet 25, call.

Turn card, Q of spades.
Here are my mistakes. I then bet 40, call

River card, offsuit 8, I check, he bets 40, I somehow beat him into the pot and he shows 98 spades


1) I should've checked when the turn hit. That was probably the WORST possible card out of the deck that could have came.

2) I had no business calling 40 bucks on the river. What hands could I possibly be beating? 2 jacks, 2 tens, maybe A6 with A of spades. Really, no hands that would be betting for value on the end.

I think when he cold calls the $25 I start to worry. Than when the board pairs with the flush card its time to shut down unless you have the K of spades. In which case you have a decent amount of river outs, either way. The worst part about the turn bet is it got you post committed to call the river bet.

Check-fold the turn. Don't beat yourself up over it, hard to get away from KK although you should have been able to here.

Instead of beating these guys to the pot..maybe you should think for a bit before making big calls like this??
