How to stack'em

Postby AlamedaMike » Mon Sep 19, 2005 12:33 pm

I only seen to win when I get lucky. Sure wish I had some skill to go along with my luck.

I think I played this about right. No raise preflop so I was not too worried about a bigger set.

I think that was good that you won with ur set but you were very lucky. I think that is one of the worst flops that you could decide to slowplay on. There is 2 diamonds on there as well as straight draws all over the place. The C/R was good though. If you are gonna slowplay a set, it is gonna have to be a flop like [Jd] [7c] [2s] IMO.

As well, when there is no PF raise that IS the time you wanna be worried about a higher set. Especially with 3's. All PP's most likley limp in. I mean with that flop 10's or K's woulda raised. But if you have 3's and the flop come 369 and you get some serious action, you could be dead.

I agree I was very lucky - it was a small pot and I was taking a chance. I did not like the flop that much.

With any action I was planning to CR.

Thanks

well, if they both didn't have top two, you might have lost one but I don't slowplay very often, especially with flush and straight draws out there. To me, a check raise after a bet and a raise is much more suspcious than a call and you are lucky these guys had enough to tag along. If he had KQ or KJ, you made it a much easier fold while not having them commit a lot of money. If you bet out, you could have gotten raised and then called (or called then raised) before it got back to you and then you could push with a lot more of their money in the por than the way you played it.

Hey, it worked out and they were drawing to 2 combined outs so you can't complain too much but this could have more easily turned into a disaster than on flops like J72 rainbow as Zuccala said.

The real question is what would you have done if everyone checked, the turn brought a diamond and one of the guys suddenly came alive?

I don't like the slowplay on that board with multiple people; however, the real key is if you are going to slowplay, you have to be willing to laydown a monster. That is very hard mentally which is why I avoid it.

I seldon slow play sets of any rank. See

http://livepokerforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6735

Here if it is checked around and a scare card hits I bet out and fold to a raise and so much for my set.

I expected if I bet that both would fold as they usually do when I bet.

Here I got lucky. On last set of 7's where the jerk got a set of Q's on the Turn I was unlucky.
