The 8 in your hand is counterfieted. If he has any pair in his hand higher than 8s, he has you beat.
Now as to how to play the hand....you should almost always lead out on that flop. Why? Because nobody will believe you have an 8. They will assume you have a king and they will call or raise you with a king.
