I get [7d] in LP

UTG raises it to $1 and i call along with both blinds. The flop comes [8s][2d] and he leads out with a pot size bet and i cal (hoping to C/R the turn) and both blinds fold.

Now the turn is the and he checks, how much to bet here?

I ended betting 1/2 pot and he folded? Should I have checked?? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!

No I think you played it fine. I actually would have bet more like 3/4 to full pot. Their are a lot of draws out there once that falls, and I want him paying for anything he may be drawing to. He probably had AQ or AK, so he was folding regardless of what you bet, but their is no way I give a free card to anyone right there. The only time I ever give a free card, is if I need the card to help myself. If I already have a made hand, I make people pay to see what's coming.

I like 1/2 pot 2/3 pot here, I want him to spike his paint card on the river. He might even come over the top of 1/2 pot as it looks like you are taking a stab with hearts or 9T.
