How many people think about position?

Postby Aisthesis » Mon Oct 10, 2005 2:50 am

I'm interested in opinions here really regarding just what people who DON'T post here play.

My immediate motivation is ice's 55 set vs. AQ, where the AQ really does surprize me from EP with a guy who plays 11-12% of all hands. But I also got into trouble on a hand a few months ago with a player whom I considered pretty tight who was playing KTs from EP. One aspect of my (wrong) thinking in calling an all-in with the second nut flush was that KXs, I thought (A and Q were on the board and I had the J in my hand in BB), was fairly unlikely from a good player in EP.

I'm not even sure how many more AA limps I see in EP than I do in MP or even LP. I think it's a few more, but I definitely see people limping with AA/KK from elsewhere.

Also, just about everyone I've talked to at the casino can't imagine not playing KQ from EP (I've actually to a large extent quit talking with people much about hand selection, but this was my impression when I was talking with some a while back).

I do think more people are inclined to limp with some kind of Q8s junk in LP (maybe I'm wrong there, too), but I'm beginning to think that those whose hand selection has a very strong positional component is an almost negligible minority. Anyone care to agree or disagree?
