Help with the ladies - QQ that is

Postby Sunbob » Wed Mar 23, 2005 1:10 am

My game has been terrible this month. I have managed to blow all of my earnings since the first of the year. I wish I could say it was just an extended string of bad luck but - NO - my play had gotten very loose. And that is not my style. So last night I sat down at just one table and told myself I would focus and play each hand as if I had to post it here and justify my every move. That helped me focus and I had my first good winning session this month.

Tonight I continued with this technique and ended up with another winning session. I have a hand I need feedback on though. I don't think I played it very well but have no idea how to play it differently.

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.10 BB (9 handed)

MP1 ($40.81)
MP2 ($7.15)
MP3 ($9.90)
Hero ($11.10)
Button ($5.97)
SB ($5.15)
BB ($10.25)
UTG ($9.80)
UTG+1 ($12.95)

Preflop: Hero is CO with [Qh], [Qd].
3 folds, MP3 calls $0.10, Hero raises to $0.5, 3 folds, UTG calls $0.50, MP3 calls $0.40.

Flop: ($1.65) [7h], [5d], [Ks] (3 players)
UTG checks, MP3 checks, Hero bets $1.5, UTG folds, MP3 raises to $3, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $4.65
Results in white below:
No showdown. MP3 wins $4.65.

$0.50 is my standard raise at this level so I"m ok with that. I didn't like the K on the flop but when it was checked to me I figured I had to bet out or it would be obvious I had QQ or JJ. When I got reraised I figured him for a king of some nature. Do I call and hope to hit the 2 outer? - I don't like that idea. Do I reraise to represent AA or KK? Thats how I have been losing my stacks lately. I chose to cut my loses and wait for a better opportunity.

If everybody was able to make a living off of their hobbies the world would be a much better place.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I guess I'm not getting too woosy with my frustration.

BTW, posted a third day of winning poker. I'm now back to where I was Jan 1. You are right Yogadude - my game has not been improving when I multitabled. I thought I had been playing pretty tight, ABC poker, but as I analyzed my game I realize that for some reason I had become very loose. I'm not sure where that comes from because it is not my game at all. I was also making some dumb calls, though. Some embarrassing and some just not too wise. These are leaks that I can plug. Now to the task of building that bankroll back up to where it was the end of February.
