Postby ox » Wed Jun 15, 2005 6:09 am

Hi guys ,do you find its more profitable to slowplay JJ to hit a set, or raise preflop, say 3 or 4 times the bb?

thanks.

This is what I usually do...though it will depend on the table texture too...

i usually limp in the first 3 spots with JJ... and raise it after that.

I always raise JJ and up from any position, even the blinds. This way if I get reraised know there's a good chance I'm up against AA/KK. If you don't raise and you get a small flop, you could lose a good amount of money with an overpair.

First post in this forum..glad to find it.

I've been playing the $25 NL game at party and have been having a pretty good run...up about $700 over 5,800 hands. I filtered down to JJ's and here's what I got. Been dealt 21 times, and raised about 90% of the time. Winning about 2.6 BB per hand, so having a little success.

WIth J's and higher, I like to go ahead and throw in a little raise...maybe 2x to 3x the bb...for the most part, what happens is I either lose a tiny bit from the raise when my cards don't hit, but clean up when they hit the set or often, even an overpair and making the winner. That's pretty much what I'm looking for on party period...just waiting for someone to overbet a pot, and then killing them. Just have to have the patience...good luck to you.
