2 hands for analysis

Postby Jeffm351 » Fri Apr 29, 2005 3:51 pm

Both from this morning..............$50 tables on GC

Hand 1 im full stack and opponent is full stack, opponent has been raising crap hands and playing any ace/2 suited.

UTG im delt [Kh] [Ad] and just call, MP2 calls, opponent on the button raises to $1.50, I call and MP2 calls. Pot is $5.75

Flop [Ah] [Tc] [4s]

I check TPTK to check raise, MP2 bets $4.50, button calls $4.50, I checkraise to $25.00 to go. MP2 folds, button calls.

Turn [Ac]

Im liking this and bet out $10.00 hoping button will go over the top all in, and he does exactly that, I call

River [8h]

Am I too aggresive w/ TPTK? any other way to play this?

button turns over [As] [8d] and takes the pot... Aces full

Hand 2

im in the BB w/ $65.00 and opponent is UTG w/ $75ish

im delt [Jc] [Js]
UTG makes a min raise to $1.00 and its folded all the way around to me, I consider re-raising but have never seen UTG raise at all and even though it is a min raise, considered it likely he had QQ-AA/AK so I called.

FLOP [4s] [4d] [Kc]

I dont think UTG raised w/ a 4 in his hand, but AK is a real possibility so I check, he checks behind.

TURN [6d]

hmmm 2 hearts, UTG checked the flop... I bet 3/4 pot and he calls. Is he slow playing TPTK? Maybe AK diamonds for nut flush draw?

I check, he checks

RIVER [Jd]

iv got the full house, theres a flush on the board... and im first to act so I bet out 1/2 pot, and get min raised... I re raise him $25.00 and he goes ALL IN... hmmmm I call

UTG shows [Ks] [Kd] and takes the pot..... Kings full... I NEVER saw that coming... somehow I got hung up on the AK theory and dismissed KK due to the small preflop raise and thought it less likely he had KK w/ the K on the flop. Anyone get away from that sooner or limit the damage on the river w/ a call of the min raise instead of re-raising?

Theres other ways to play hand #1, but your line is pefectly fine. He caught a miracle.

Really? I'm always immediately suspicious when a preflop raiser gets it heads up and then checks the flop. Sure, if it's [9h][Th][Jh] that's one thing, but on a flop like this I expect a bet no matter what, especially since the raiser is in position and it's been checked to him.

I really don't think there is anything wrong with the way you played #1... you got the money in with the best hand.. he hit a 3 outer.

The only thing with #2 is that he checked behind after the raise. However at the $25 tables where I play this is quite common as people min raise with crap. Among better players I would always be wary of a raiser with position checking behind, particularly on a board with such bluffing potential. He wants you to think he DOESN'T have a K. Now why would that be?

Still, when the jack falls you are dead meat. No way you get away from that.

Hand 2 -- UTG min raises, and then checks behind on the K44 flop, smooth calls the turn, and min raises the river. Am I weak tight for wanting to just call that min raise? With the flush out he's got to have KK or the AXs to make that min raise, and I think AXs bets the flop most of the time.

You think Axs bet a K44 flop most of the time? No draw no pair out of position? Thats not my experience at all.

KK went thru my mind but so did alot of other hands including Axs of diamonds.

We're in the BB, so he has position on us. If his PFA was less than 1 I could see him check behind with AXs, but I think most people bet that no matter what they have (KK excepted of course).
