2 hands to analyze

Postby odogg » Mon Aug 08, 2005 7:48 am

Both of these hands happened as I sit down at 100 NL tables so my stack is at around 100 dollars.

I am dealt AQs in middle position. 1 person has limped in and I have started basing my raise size by 3 times the blind plus a dollar for every limper. So in this case I pop it to 4 dollars preflop.

Only the SB calls. Again I am new to the table so I have no read at all. He has a 125 dollar stack.

9.50 in the pot

Flop come Ah 9c 8c:

He fires out 3.50 and I raise it to 12 dollars. He calls.

Roughly 34 dollars in the pot.

Turn Ac

He goes all in. Your action?

Second Hand:

I have KK on the button. Same deal full stack as I just sat down and have played 2 hands on the table. Same method as before. 3 times the blind plus a dollar for every limper. In this case I make it 5 to go. I get reraised to 8 or 9 dollars That clears everyone else out and we take the flop.

Approx. 18 in the pot.

Flop: QTT rainbow

He pushes out 8 dollars. I think I have the best hand here but want to wait to the turn to make my play so I just call the 8. I want to represent the T but making the play now might now be believable. I completely eliminate him having the T with the reraise. No way he would come over top out of position with that weak of a hand like AT. (This is just my read. Anything I guess is possible)

34 in the pot.

Turn: 9 completes the rainbow

He fires 20 at the pot. Your action?

Hand 1: I dunno, ask one of the NL players

Hand 2: I really think you gotta re-raise this pre flop.

Hand 1 I fold....may be weak, but I can find better spots to play for my stack. He may or may not have you beat, but there are a lot of hands that beat you, and I just couldn't make that call.

Hand 2...We need a little more information. Was it one of the blinds that reraised you, or was it someone in early position that limped in and then reraised you. It makes a difference. How you played it, I would probably just call him on the turn and see what he does when the river card hits. (God that sounds really weak too doesn't?) You could raise, but if you do it is pretty much an all in raise. So you have to determine if you want to play for your stack right there or not.

Hand 1
I would propably fold, Atleast when I just have sat down, and dont want to spoil the whole session with a crappy start. Propably very weak but I seem to get busted to the few hands that beats me everytime in in this situation. I am actually very interested in how the "pros" handle this.

Hand2:

I would make a reraise big enough that if he wanna play he is almost all in already, or just push. I wanna get the money in preflop.

Hand #1--I love his bet (too bad for you). Hard to tell if he just made his flush, had two pair, or trip aces. I probably fold. My guess is his 1/3 bet on the flop means he was drawing to the flush and hit it with the [Ac]

Hand #2--Hands he could logically reraise you with pf are AA, KK, QQ, JJ, TT, AK. After that flop, you are ahead of only 2 of the 6. I'm not sure I don't slow down here. Also, I probably reraise his weak flop bet to know where I'm at in the hand.

Both hands look like boats. ;) Second one I'm leaning more to AA actually.
Tough hands to get away from if you're beat. While the first one MAY be a bluff and not 66 or 77 (why would he want you out of this hand with a full house, actually the more i'm thinking about it it's really either very bad play or bluff), in the second one the villain is obviously making milking bets. I'm like 99% sure he got QQ or AA.

Really unpleasant situations for sure..
If you know that your opponent in the first hand is capable of such bluffs, then you should probably call.If you're not familiar with him, or you think hes a straithforward player, then fold.
I'm guessing you should fold the KK, if not facing a complete idiot. :)
There is no knowledge that is not power.
