G/F Hand with SC (50NL 6max)

Postby T-Rod » Tue Nov 07, 2006 8:59 am

I'm watching the g/f play 50NL 6max Full Tilt and I'm not sure if she played it great or what.

A guy raises x4bb (he's TAG), G/F calls in MP with 9[d] 8[d], and the button calls (button is 75/21 but fairly passive post flop). All have full stacks.

Flop A[d] 7[d] 6[c]. ($6) That's pretty much the best you can hope for. PFR checks, G/F bets $5, button calls and pfr folds.

Turn ($16). 9[s]. Ck/ck.

River ($16) 2[s] G/F checks, button bets $10.

Questions:
1) Anyone call? Is this a weak ace value betting or a busted draw stealing?
2) Is this line the best or is betting the flop, betting the turn, and checking the river (if missed) better? G/F is a 25/8 TAG.

I like to bet the turn here. I think his river bet is more often than not a weak ace and calling is usually a spew without a read.
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

Bet turn.
Checking is too soft.
Put the pressure on the other player.
If he had fired out a good sized bet when you checked, then you'd be the one in the tough spot.

Also when the turn gets checked through it's going to be hard to get good value on your hand since you're OOP.

As played I check fold the river. Chances are you are beat more often than not, it could be a busted draw but which one, it would be different if your hand is not diamonds but it makes it a lot harder for villian to be drawing to diamonds when you have 2. I like leading the turn hard, and putting pressure on villian to fold. If you get called you have a ton of outs but I usually try to take it down on the turn. I dont read 2+2 but I hate a Cr on the turn, if you want to push villian off his hand how is bluffing at a bigger pot going to do that?

Bet the turn about $12. This is like a semibluff-blocking bet. He may have called the flop with a lower pocket pair and have to fold the turn here. Also your opponent is gonna have a tough time raising this with anything less than two pair. He also may fold his flush draw now if he's on one.

I also don't like checkraise, all it serves is to make the pot bigger for Ax to call you, I haven't played here but from what I gather I don't see people folding Ax at this limit.
