7-8 is very possible. however...i would say that we've already committed ourselves to playing for the amount of the shortstack....and after a pot-sized turn bet there'll be enough money in the pot that MP1 would raise big if he held 7-8 and turned the boat. so yeah.....7-8 could be out there, but you're not going to find out by checking the turn.

OK, soweak's plan is exactly what i was thinking and exactly what I did. If I bet too much now, MP1 may give up with a Q thinking I really do have a 7. If I check, he will almost definately bet it thinking I was just messing around on the flop.

I checked the turn. Theres no doubt in my mind that if I check one of them is going to bet. How could they not after they both called my flop bet with no draws out there?

I checked and what I did next would be determined by what THEY did. MP1 bet $12 into the $31 pot. MP2 (the short stack) pushed all in for about $25 total.

If I raise now, MP1 will fold anything but a 7. If I flat call, then surely he will raise if he has a 7 because he will want to trap my seemingly dead money in the pot. So I flat called and MP1 called also. I was now 95% sure thathe didnt have a 7.

The pot is now $105 or so. The river is the [2h]. Final board is [7c][Qs][7h][8d][2h].
MP2 is all in.
1) What do you do on the river?
2) What do you think MP1 has
3) What do you think the shrt stack has?

"MP1 bet $12 into the $31 pot. MP2 (the short stack) pushed all in for about $25 total. "

How? If he has a seven and a better kicker A7s for example he would be thrilled to bet 12 and have it raised all in by the short stack. You smooth calling that all in makes it obvious (to me) that you have a seven considering you have another person yet to act behind you. So now I have the SB in a pickle if I am trapping.

Considering the clues I will assume he has the big queen and the pot is taken down but I just disagree with the play on the turn which I hope is the point of this excercise.

I think its more obvious that I have the 7 if I reraise the short stacks all in, but I could be wrong.

It is very obvious that you have the 7 if you raise and that is why I would do it. It is also obvious if you smooth call. I am just saying that if he is trapping with A7 you are in bad shape on the river. An average player can make this play. A7s is a magnet for bad players.

Not trying to disagree or argue just stating my opinion. For how it was played I would check and call any moderate bet by MP 1.
