Hand for evaluation

Postby BKAZ » Fri Jul 01, 2005 8:11 am

I had been playing with this opponent and had about 80 hands with him. His GT+ numbers were VP$IP 28% PFR 12% Post Flop Aggression 3.8. He is loose, aggressive and has a tendency to bluff.

Look at my play and critique with those numbers in mind.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

MP2 ($105.18)
MP3 ($22.29)
CO ($40.6)
Hero ($57.9)
SB ($45.08)
BB ($46.49)
UTG ($55.13)
UTG+1 ($49)
UTG+2 ($54.94)
MP1 ($37.03)

Preflop: Hero is Button with [Jc], [Js]. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
3 folds, MP1 calls $0.50, MP2 calls $0.50, 1 fold, CO calls $0.50, Hero raises to $3, SB (poster) calls $2.75, 1 fold, MP1 folds, MP2 calls $2.50, CO calls $2.50.

Here I have 2 callers. I think the cut off would have raised if he had a big PP or AK and the SB has called alot of raises.

Flop: ($13) [4c], [5h], [5d] (4 players)
SB checks, MP2 checks, CO checks, Hero bets $10, SB raises to $20, MP2 folds, CO folds, Hero calls $10.

Would anyone with a 5 in their hand have called my $3 Pre Flop Raise? Maybe a very loose Ax suited out of the cut off. The SB has shown alot of aggression and I am thinking he is trying to buy the pot.

Turn: ($53) [9h] (2 players)
SB calls $22.08 (All-In), Hero calls $22.08.

I am sure I acted too quickly here but I am getting over 3 to 1 on my money although I am starting to believe him.

River: ($97.16) [9c] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $97.16

I think this is one of my worst leaks. I change my play because I put too much stock into what GT+ is telling me and don't consider that my loose aggressive opponent may really have a strong hand. I am sure I screwed this hand up so evaluate and advise on how I should have played it.

I don't think I would have put him on a 5 here either. But on the flop when he min raises you and only has $22 left I think it's push or fold time right there, at least you maybe have some fold equity at that point and if you are calling here you guys are getting your stacks in anyways so go ahead and push. I think I do push there, he could have any range of hands from 66-QQ. You beat 66-1010 and QQ-AA are somewhat unlikely b/c no reraise. On the turn of course 99 now beats you but the money should have gone in on the flop and at this point you are pot committed so I call that bet there if I hadn't pushed on the flop.
