i would bet the turn......because representing the Ace is the best way to find out whether he's really got the Jack.

I don't mind going into a defensive stance here against an opponent that want to see the river against.

There are better ways to play it against different opponents, but I take your line when I'm just not sure.

The advantages are:
You have controlled the pot and not done anything rash against an opponent that you don't really know on an intimidating board. You will know something for the money you spent whether you win or lose this pot.

You made it to the showdown cheap as it gets and didn't get blasted out of the pot where you may have the best hand at the flop. That might have changed at the turn, but we won't know with out at least calling the river, and raising the river sounds crazy against an unknown.

The only disadvantage win or lose is that you played the hand on his terms. Which I don't mind in a decent sized pot with a fragile hand that might well be best.

This is somewhat read dependent on Villain. Is he the type that will CR a weak river bet? (of course you have no read yet)

when he checks it twice to you , I don't think he has a J. I'm betting the river too.

Yeah, that really has to be 77-TT (?). I probably would have checked the river in practice, but I think you made a good bet there. I don't see his have an A, and I don't see him having KK--if he has those or a J, he plays them unbelievably passively.

well, i'm glad to see that a few of you put him on a PP besides me.

i couldn't believe for the life of me that he held a J and checked it to me twice. i also didn't think he had KK just because.. well, i dunno. i never put him on it for some reason.

Anyways, he tanked and called with A4.

oops. apparantly i should have reraised the flop. like aisthesis said, i thought he had 77-TT, so i was making (what i felt was) a value bet.

oops.
