I'm having a nice session when this hand comes up. I feel like I got outplayed pretty badly by my opponent, who was the same opponent that I played another big hand against a few days ago when I had the 10-high flush against the flopped straight (preposterous on Stars).

I didn't even get the hand history for this one but I remember the details.

I get dealt KQs UTG at 8-person table. I limp, 2 more limpers, SB completes and BB checks. 5-way pot. I have 520 and have villian covered.

FLOP: [Jh][Td] (Pot: 20)

Checked to me, I lead out for 16. Villian makes it 40. Terrible player in SB or BB (can't remember) calls and I call.

TURN: (Pot: 140)

Checked to Villian who bets 76. I call. Ugh.

River is a complete blank. I think. I check and he goes allin for his last 320. Pot is like 290. I use up my entire timer and they fold my hand. Villian is definately aggressive and he's capable of semibluffing and bluffing big. He does have a tendency to overplay his hands a bit from what I've seen but I think he's a respectable player. He didnt show but he insists that he had KJ.

Clearly I got outplayed on this one. So fire away.

I think you should have folded on every street, including preflop. I never limp with KQ UTG....danger hand out of position is bad!!!

So lets see, I fold preflop.

I like the bet on the flop, I fold to the raise without hesitation...(why would you call a raise here when the BB is showing so much strength by calling a bet and a raise. Even if he is horrible like you say..don't you consider the fact that the aggressive player might have you beat as well? And there is a strong possibilty your straight draw is already beaten with AK.) a fold is the definite winner for me...pot odds aren't gonna help you if you are already dominated.

Turn - fold. Unless you got some killer read here why are you throwing your money here on "calls." Even if you hit the straight and don't split or if he has you beat already with AK or a full house; you're not gonna get more money out of him, when he has position on you. The straight draw is so obvious and would slow any decent player down if it hit.

River- Fold. So many hands beat you it is insane.


I think you must have been having a bad day that's all. KQ UTG is such crap.!! Treat KQ like dirt unless you are in late position...suited or not.

I think looking back on this you learned a good lesson. Just remember to fold KQ in EP and a lot of times in MP. I don't know what better advice to give you here.

Yeah I think I had a brain freeze. I was in a $100 SnG at the same time and after I played some solid poker for 45min I blew a chiplead when we got down to 3 by making a dumbass call for all my chips. So I was mad and eager to make it back. Anyway I normally don't play KQs UTG but preflop raises were pretty rare at this table and a lot of the bigger stacks were weaker players so I thought it wouldn't be horrible. Anyway as you said I could have gotten myself out of this mess by folding the flop. Don't know what I was thinking, to be honest. I felt so bad about this hand that I left shortly after that, even though my table was pretty weak. I went to go blow 3600FPPs on a satellite SnG to the $530 tourney but I wanted to end on a good note so I sat back down at a table and made a good bit when I called a small preflop raise with 88 and hit top set against KK.

And this is offtopic...but I must comment on your resemblance to Arnold. If they ever want to make another Terminator movie and Arnold can't do it you could step right in and they wouldn't even be able to tell the difference. Just work on that accent and you'll be set.
