Got me a big monitor, doesn't help multitabling

Postby Stoneburg » Fri Sep 16, 2005 9:38 am

My nice 19" LCD Philips just arrived and has replaced my old crappy 17" crt monitor but I am a bit disappointed. I assumed that I would be able to have 4 tables without overlap now that I will be running 1280x1024, but obviously (at least at Prima) the damn tables adjust to the resolution! Is there anyway to get around this so I can actually utilize this monitor?

Didn't really know where to put this so I posted in the forum with the most traffic.

The tables adapt to the resolution? Really??? That is bizarre weird strange.

I 4-table Prima on mini-view at the normal resolution. Every other site I've ever played (except UB), I have to change the resolution to at least 1600x1200 to get 4 tables to fit.

Are you looking to 8-table Prima or something? 4 not enough anymore?

No I'm still 4-tabling but there's a big overlap which is what I hoped to get rid of. :?

Any ideas? Minitables are not an option really.

sorry to break it to you stoneburg, but you need a 1600x1200 monitor for 4-tabling no overlap at most sites (there are 1 or 2 with "miniview" - UB, gaming club maybe?)

for LCD's you usually need a 20" + monitor for 1600x1200

you can get smaller CRT's (even 17" ones) that support 1600x1200

I just got a Dell 2001FP - 20"LCD - can get deals from Dell for $450-$500 shipped. It is amazing.

i would suggest upping the resolution to 1600x1200 if you can - that should allow you to fit 4 windows on the screen from most sites (although some sites will still have a tiny bit of overlap)

eehhh, but i think most LCD's max out at 1280x1024. you'll just have to get a 21" flat screen CRT like me that can do 1920x1440. the thing is a monster and weighs like 80 lbs though...

The other thing you could do is have a dual monitor setup playing 2-3 tables on your new LCD and 1-2 tables on your old CRT.

If you dont have a dual ouput vid card, you can just buy a cheap vid card to put in a PCI slot.

I think that you have to have 1600x1200 to get 4 tables on one screen. Nothing else will work.

I bought 2 cheap CRT's at Staples.. $139 each and also picked up a dual vid monitor card... making sure that the monitors and video card will support 1600x1200. Works like a charm... 4 tables on one screen, PT and other stuff on the second monitor. All for less than $400.

They dont adjust to the resolution. You need 1600x1200 like some others said. I play 3 tables every day at Prima with 1600x1200 with no overlap.

Return it and get another one. Like Dell 2001fp or Samsung 213T or 204T.

You really should try to get used to mini-view.... since converting to it, I can follow the action much easier now. I can also fit 9 tables with no overlap on 1600x1200 :) Not that I would ever play 9 tables...but i have the option!

Hmpf. Well I aint getting rid of this baby, other than the resolution it's wonderful. I'm too hooked on GT+ to play miniview unfortunately. Thanks for all the tips.
