Good fold or bad fold?

Postby mecha » Sun Aug 21, 2005 9:44 pm

I am always afraid of the 1st bettor re-raising... Should I be? or should I call in this spot? Looks like an opportunity to stack someone or lose a quick 3.5 big bets. Thoughts?

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (9 handed)

UTG+1 ($69.75)
MP1 ($103.65)
MP2 ($193)
MP3 ($73)
CO ($97.15)
Button ($176.40)
SB ($124.05)
BB ($197)
Hero ($291.65)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [8d], [8h].
Hero calls $2, 2 folds, MP2 raises to $6, 4 folds, BB raises to $14, Hero folds, MP2 calls $8.

Flop: ($31) [8c], [7c], [7d] (2 players)
BB checks, MP2 bets $15, BB calls $15.

Turn: ($61) [6c] (2 players)
BB checks, MP2 bets $25, BB calls $25.

River: ($111) [3h] (2 players)

Final Pot: $211

Oh Man.... I would be breaking something if I fold and then see that flop.

The only reason to not call is if you have reads on MP and he nly raises KK-AA, in which case there is a very good chance he will raise all in. I all other situations you have about 1 in 8 chances of stacking one or both guys.

I only fold there if MP only raises with KK-AA, in which case he will be reraising BIG.

Bad fold? the worst, if you dont have that read of MP, IMHO.

I disagree with Alex here. This is a solid fold, there is a to good a chance that the original raisor is going to reraise here and you are going to give away $10 more dollars. The results suck od course you flop top boat and your not in the hand. I also disagee that you have a 1 in 8 chance of stacking both of them. The only chance you have of taking both of their stacks is if they both have big pairs. AA and KK, if this is the case with a 3rd player in between the first raisor is going to reraise and you arent going to get to see a flop. In all the hands I've played since I got pt almost 25k, I have only taken two full stacks on a hand 4 times. I like your fold, the flop makes you want to scream and throw things but looking past that I like the way you played your hand.

chuck it. calling $12 in this spot to hit the set is marginal in itself. add in the reraise anti-equity and you can easily fold that.

I'm with Alex on this one. I call, its only 7xBB and if that had been the original raise I would have called that anyway. Now like Alex, I think its read dependent if MP2 likes to slow play/weak bet big PP then come over the top, I fold but only with that read. I think more times than not the original bettor calls since his bet was only 3xBB (weak IMO).
