Good flop bet here.

Postby AlamedaMike » Thu Aug 04, 2005 4:27 pm

Here is an example of misdirection. I bet the flop representing a Q. Then checked the turn because I had nothing. Had the other player made a big bet here I would have folded. Lucky for me he did not have top pair.

The hand converter has not been working for me so I will have to post the hand in long hand. Sorry.

Here I wish I had more money. I had to read the board several times to make sure I had what I thought I had.

I think the hand went down this way because I had bet the flop and he did not put me on a draw. He most likely put me on AQ since I checked the Turn.

No preflop raise on either hand? I would tend to raise with either of these. There are already limpers and I don't want to encourage more... actually I want to see if I can get this heads up.

You take a hand 5 way and get a J 7 8 flop. The texture of this flop is very bad 5 handed. I would not take a stab at this one. There are too many hands here that would check and call, either because they have a draw or are slowplaying... then you really don't know where you stand. Think about the hands that could check / call you.... 9T slowplaying. QJ, KJ not sure of kicker or afraid of a bigger hand. 87 - 2 pair. 89 pair and straight draw. JT top pair with inside straight. 77 88 slowplaying. 56 - idiot end of straight. This doesn't even address the flush draws. If one calls now more of these hands are encouraged to call because the pot odds get better and better.

You have to be selective about the pots you try and steal. This flop with this many players - it's not going to work as often as you would like.

Q T 7... I don't like this flop either with this many people in the hand. It is too easy for limpers to have hit part of it. KJ, QJ, J9, 89, KT, AT, QT, KQ. These are all limper hands and with that many limpers, it is likely someone has something.... now some of them are betting hands with that flop but many of them would warrant a check / call, especially from a late position bet.

I don't do much raising with AQ and AJs. I mix about 50/50 raise and call. Even LP these could be raising hands.

I think I have a tight image and I get a lot of folds when I raise. After 4 limpers I do not want to raise with AQ or AJs.

This hand I was second in and I raised with AJs.

I have not kept track of my steal attempts but I think I am ahead of the game. This one could have gone either way.

Thanks

I have been playing NL about 4 months now and about 4 years limit. I have a lot to learn. Only 3,500 hands at Pokerstars in the past 4 weeks.
