Only one reasonable hand beats you.

In these situations you have to really know your opponent to be able to fold. If he would push with less than 99 you must call. If he is hyper nutpeddler, you can make an argument for folding. I can think of three guys at $50 NL on my site I fold too, and every one else I call, if they got nines they can have my stack.

Between 1-10 what is his yahoo factor?

No read you must call and it is unfortunate that you are trapped up. :(

Agreed.

I see this play made so many times with people playing Ax and hitting the x too. If that is the case you are safe so its an easy call. I cannot really see an AA or JJ given the SB limped so 99 is your only worry. I too would need a reason to lay this down in the form of some kind of read.

On the AJ hand, I probably call the way you played it as you are only trailing a set of 99s.

However, why the huge reraise on the flop by you? Doesn't that chase away hands you can beat (and get value from) and insure callers from hands that beat you? I probably only min raise on the flop

I like the idea of the low variance game that Brian advocates. HOWEVER....

Some people will minraise with anything that "normal" people will call with. For instance, if I have KQ on a Kxx flop, following Ice's advice, I like to raise or fold if someone bets into me, rather than calling. If I do raise, it will sometimes be a minraise just because that's the cheapest way to get information.

If I know somebody is weak-tight like Brian advocates, I'll minraise them with anything remotely playable. Taking a lot of small pots can make up for a few big losses.

If you're up against someone with a high flop aggression, then obviously you don't fold to a single minraise. In fact, you should probably raise that guy right back right now to find out where you stand. But against the passive folks, any raise of any size is huge and says fold unless you can draw to a win against the current nuts.
