well for instance stoni...if you had just moved all-in on the river instead of betting $2...don't you think he would call anyway? It's very hard for most players to let go of a flush...especially on the river.

Another option...you bet $10 on the river..he raises to $20...now you can easily put him in.

Building the pot, while not as important in NL as PL, is a freaking art form. I'm still working on it :)

let me give you an example of a hand where I had to actually overbet to get money in the pot:

1/2NL
I have KJ in the BB.

FLOP$6 3handed
Q98 rainbow

Checked to the button who bets $2. SB folds... I call just hoping to lead on the turn and take it....or hit a gutshot :)

TURN$10 (heads up)
Q98 T rainbow

ok now I have the nut straight. I just pray he has a jack now. I bet $20. he calls.

RIVER$50
Q98 T7
I have the nuts.

I bet $100. (double the pot again lol.) He calls and mucks his lone jack.

Now see...I got a bunch of money from this hand because I bet big. I actually think I might have been better off checking the river and letting him make a bet, then check-raising him even bigger. I'm not entirely sure...but I was satisfied.

This wasn't a normal hand obviously... but I'm sure I got more money then if I was making mini bets.

Stoni,

How many times do you think he would have called an all in? Let s say that when you raised to 10, you had 19 left. How many times would he had called that 19 bet, given that he called 10?

I think the answer is he would call in most times. How you buid the pot depends on the table image you have and your opponents. In party, for example the pot gets huge and the winner is TPNK but in absolutepoker, for example, when you are in a big pot, you´d better hold something good for the showdown. What I mean is that you dont need to get tricky to build a pot if you are playing NL$25. A very good amount of players will chase their flush even with the board paired.
