Foray into 2/4NL

Postby CocaCola » Thu Sep 08, 2005 11:29 pm

i played 2/4 for the first time tonight at golden palace, 300 dollar buy-in

this hand is from memory, no reads on opponent.

im first to act with [Ad][Ac], i limp, MP raises to 20, i min-raise to 36

[As][3c][4c]
pot~70 i bet 10, villain raises to 35, i flat call

[9c]????
i check, opponent bets 45 and has about 180 left. i push all-in he folds

i tried to make him think i was full of crap semi-bluffing with the flush draw but it backfired, pretty retarded thinking on my part, that card is a major scare for both of us and he could only call with a flush.. how could i have played it differently?

when I hit a set, and the villian was the preflop raiser i like to lead into him with a pot sized bet or maybe even a little more than the pot.

be that as it may, i see that you were trying to extract max. value from your hand, But he raised your flop bet. I would have re-raised 2/3 or the full pot. He obviously doesn't think you have AA or he would not have raised you. Plus you have the A[c] so its almost an insta push. Build these pots early, and you will win bigger pots.
