Folding trips, twice

Postby Stoneburg » Sat Oct 01, 2005 5:23 pm

I'm posting a lot of hands from todays session because I haven't played in a while due to being occupied with Battlefield 2 and Morrowind... computergames are massively -EV for sure. I felt a bit (read: very) rusty and felt I made a bunch of mistakes so I could sure use some analysis and help.

In these hands I have NO read on my opponents, is it weak to fold here?

I am not folding Hand 1. I might try to get a cheap showdown but I am not folding.

Hand 2 is damned scary and the fact that you are OOP sucks. OK to fold, IMHO.

I have been playing just 5-6 hours a week taking very long breaks (last night I had 8days without playing) and that has helped me a lot. I feel I am playing very very well and the results are amazing. It has to be with patience, I am not getting crazy with big hands and have been making BIG laydowns.

I would have won bith hands. Hand #1 was Jx against AA (wtf?!) and hand #2 was 63o.

#1 I just didn't believe that trips-no-kicker was ahead of TWO players when one of them bets the turn and the other raises. Hand #2 I have figured he must either have the flush OR the trips/boat, and if he does he can't have a worse kicker (amazingly... he did have just that).

Hand #1 I am just amazed how badly(?) they both played it. I think I am getting way too weak/tight with trips because I figure that when I bet on a paired board I represent the trips (obvously I don't have them most of teh time...) and someone wouldn't bet or raise if they can't beat that. Obviously I am over estimating people.
