Folding Kings(ring game)

Postby Danhdan » Tue Oct 11, 2005 3:05 am

Bigphish's topic reminded me of a hand that my buddy played, and I was wondering if I could get some opinions on it.

NL Hold'em live ring game - 1/2 Blinds - Max buy $100 - Ten Handed

Hero is CO($150), villian is UTG+2($141).

UTG raises to $10, villian raises to $20, and my buddy has KK. He reraises to $40.
UTG folds and villian raises to $75 total. My buddy calls after a little deliberation.

Flop is 3 4 5 rainbow. Villian moves all in after a few seconds.

Villian had been aggressive with medium and big pairs(Ten's and Queen's), but isn't very sophisticated with his plays. Has pushed action with his pockets pairs while having overcards on the board.

What is your play?

Let me know if your moves preflop would be different or not...my buddy and I disagreed on the way he played this hand, although he would have liked to have played it differently after reflection.

In position like in your buddys case I just call after a raise and a reraise with KK but this is a matter of taste. His rereraise of 40$ seems high enough. The rerereraise of the villain of 75$ looks suspisious, now more than half of his stack is in the pot.
I think you should have folded this one preflop. He directly tells you that he has AA (maybe KK).
