I folded this set!!

Postby Zuccala » Fri Oct 21, 2005 8:43 am

I was dealt [8c][8h] in EP and limped in and a LP brought it in for a 6BB raise and I call along with another EP limper.

The flop comes [As][Kc][8d] EP checks, i lead for the full pot, and the LP goes ALL-IN. So i have to ponder this for a sec.....

Now, I hate and I mean hate folding set but...I am ahead of AK, and behind KK and AA so thats 2/3 I am behind, so i dropped it like 3rd period French. I think this was a solid play. Anybody think I should called??

I think I fold that one too. At least I hope I could fold it.

I'm a fan of leading into the raiser with a set (heck isn't every BTPr?); however, I think I check this flop. I think its the way ahead/way behind situation so there's no point escalating things.

hell no do i fold this. This is 25nl (he didn't mention that) and there are many combinations of cards to give you AK and few to give you KK and AA. Also, the guy could have AQ and AJ (even A8 and K8 depending on the muppet)

Also, who the hell goes all in the flop with a bigger set on that flop? I am calling no question.

I'm with Brian on this one. There are still more combinations of hand that you beat than hands that beat you. In bigger game with good players, I can consider folding. So why the heck would this guyo push all in for a big raise if he has a set.

Great points Bri and Rhound, you couldn't fold me to fold this set. Ever. Every single person in the entire NL25 gene pool is addicted to slowplaying. It is nearly impossible that when you lead out for the pot that they wouldn't just flat call you out of excitement that someone was betting into their set. There's no way you're beat here, AK, AQ, much, much, much more likely.

Hehe I called. The secret is out!! He had KK! :( There was no way I was gonna fold that hand. Just seeing what people said with a different perspective. I was very surprised to see he had KK. I thought I was gonna see 2 pair for sure. Oh well, sometime on this board u have to be sneaky!!LOL

It is a weird push, but also something i have tried recently just to change things up...If anyone is looking a my stats, there is no way they put me on a set making that bet, and it flies in the face of "normal" good play...Mixed results so far, as a loss of action mostly, and a couple callers, but only tried it a few times....
