Exploring AA slowplay

Postby shobute » Thu Aug 04, 2005 8:44 pm

Hi,

So lately I've taken to expirementing with slowplaying AA and KK.
Here's one attempt that failed miserably.

Were there any hints that I should get out? Or is this just life?

Opponent is a fish.
Not joking, that's what he's rated.
(But, he would have folded to my PF raise.)

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

UTG+1 ($101.80)
UTG+2 ($426.40)
MP1 ($40.05)
Hero ($100)
MP3 ($135.30)
CO ($55.50)
Button ($132.90)
SB ($196.60)
BB ($136.35)
UTG ($113.70)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with [Ah], [As]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
4 folds, Hero calls $1, 1 fold, CO calls $1, Button calls $1, SB (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($5) [Qd], [2d], [Kc] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $4, CO folds, Button calls $4, SB folds, BB folds.

Turn: ($13) [4c] (2 players)
Hero bets $7, Button raises to $14, Hero calls $7.

River: ($41) [6h] (2 players)
Hero bets $40, Button calls $40.

Final Pot: $121

The minimum raise at the turn is your hint to get out. KQ, and 22 would be the most likely hands for a normal player. If hes a fish he could have Q2s, K2s, K4s or Q2s as well.

Also, I dont like limping with AA that far into middle position

Thanks iceman5, I didn't give him credit when he minraised.

And I'll have to keep thinking about when to limp.
This is the first time I've gotten into trouble.

Results were: Q4h for two pair.

Fish usually don't raise unless they think that they have something...I don't think that he has KQ since they usually raise pf with that...Q4/K4 is my bet. The min raise tells me to call and expect to need to improve on the river before I commit any more $$. I'd not have bet out on the river, also.

Well, maybe a blocking bet of $10 would work..if you're reraised then you're done.
