The word "donk" in donk bet implies its a dumb bet since we calls bad players "donks". Theres nothing wrong with leading into the raiser. Leading into the raiser is often the best play. What I would say it bad (hence a donk bet) is when you lead $5 into a $18 pot.

If you call a raise with [2s] and the flop comes [Jd][2s] and there are 4 people seeing the flop and the other 2 are between you and the raiser, then you should most certainly be leading out, but you shouldnt be leading 1/3 pot. That would be a donk bet (although it still might work in this spot).

If I raise to $10 and we are heads up to a flop of [8d][3c] and you "donk bet" $7 into the $23 pot, Im going to raise you most of the time. When I raise to $30, what do you do with your KT? You would be better off either check / calling or leading $18 or more. Its going to be tough for me to raise that bet without having KT beat.

So leading $20 is fine. Leading $7 is a donk bet.

What if Position missed the flop completely and OOP player donk bets into him?
I mean, should he raise POT or more with AKs with lets say Q57 flop and no flush draw? Isn't this extremely dangerous in the way that if OOP player connected with even a TP he could take us down and we lose more by raising his donk bet so strongly? His only basic decision is to realize if we have an overpair here or not..
What I am trying to say/question is, if I get donk bet at and don't have a flop connected hand or an overpair do I still raise the donk or do I slow down and let him assume control?
I mean, it's easy to say, Raise the donk bet 80% of the time, but I think it might be very dangerous.. .am I wrong?

p.s. this might not all be true for the limits I play right now online, but live I play 1/2 PL and I don't think that it will be THAT long before I start playing .50/1online, so me asking questions above my current level is not pure over-complicating things (at least not for me)... Thanks!

If he donks bets and you have nothing, you should raise almost every time. If you have a big hand, you should raise sometimes and call sometimes depending on the board.

I can promise you that when someone donk bets into me and I raise, they fold 80% or more.
