Did I play this right??

Postby Zuccala » Wed Sep 14, 2005 9:51 am

All folds to me OTB and i see [Ac][Kh] and i pop it 4BB. The BB calls. The flop comes down [As][6c][2c]. pot ($2.50)

Now the BB leads out for $2.50
And I raise it another $5
He calls pot ($12.50)

Now the turn come [8h]

check, check (should I have followed up with a bet here) pot $15

River

[2d]

BB leads out for $15. and I call

He has A4 I win the hand!!

Now i raised on the flop to see where I was. I was sure he was on an Ace. I think I should have bet the turn because i did not want him to hit his kicker for free. At the time I waqs scared of being C/R'd, but i think if he woulda hit is 2 pair on the turn or flop he would have bet into me. So next time i have Tp/Tk I think i should follow it thru with a 1/2 pot bet on the turn. What do ya think??

in a 3-handed situation, you can play this AK tp very confidently.

w/ the flush draw out, you need to be betting more. you min-raised the flop; raise more. you got no info out of that raise. now on the turn, checking is bad. you have the [Ac], which is nice defense against a flush draw, but still i would bet here and charge the avg player since he probably still thinks you're bluffing. if you had raised more on the flop and he had called, then i think checking behind on the turn would be correct. by min-raising the flop and checking the turn, you gave him 4:1 to see the last two cards.

nice how it worked out, though. fwiw, opponent's river bet is terrible and sad.

Another thought... I'd be willing to bet that your opponent is someone who sees a turn check as a massive sign of weakness (hence his pot sized bet on the river with TPWK).

You can use that to trap him later when you have the nuts. Check the turn, pop the river and he'll think you're bluffing.
