AA Cracked Seven Consecutive Times

Postby Acoplander » Wed Aug 03, 2005 6:48 pm

What's up all,

This has got to be my worst "bad streak" on Party. Two hard months of great play for naught. Started with around $500 after initial deposit of $100, now I have $100 left. Woohoo! Net loss of $400. I was "lucky" enough to catch AA seven times today out of 220 hands, and they were cracked 7/7 times. Now, if you do the math, statistically, that has a (.2)^7 chance of happening, and in my case, the odds are even more miniscule.

These were on NL $50 tables. Every hand was an all-in here.

AA against QQ- Queens flopped another. Lost $50
AA against KJ suited- Runner runner JJ. Lost $50
AA against KQ suited- Hit a set, then lost to runner runner flush. Lost $30

The other four hands they (a couple hands, 3 people were involved) caught a pair or trips on the flop, and then either hit two pair or had the set to take it down after going all-in. Lost $270 on these four hands.

Oh Party Poker, art thou rigged? Sigh.

[Edit] On a side note, the black aces did quite better than the red aces! The black ones only lost to a set at the worst, while the red ones got the runner runner jobs. Go ace of spades!

If there's a hand to analyze, it might be this one.

Acoplander [As, Ac]
Player 1 [Jd, Js]
Player 2 [Qd, Qh]

Blinds are 25/50 cents. I raise in early position to $3. Both call. Flop comes [J 9 6], I bet out $8. Player 1 calls. Player 2 goes all in. Player 1 has both of us covered. Turn and river are blanks. Player 1 wins around $175. Your thoughts.

Oh by the way, I also got AK 7 or 8 times, and I couldn't find an ace nor king on the flop. Now you do the math on that one!

Luckily, that was offset by my KK surviving (!!!) an all-in against QQ, so my net loss didn't exceed $400. Dang, I'm lucky.

I come up with 4.3461509%. So there! I did that in my head, though, so I may be off by a millionth of a percent or two.

Hah. Try to roll a "6" seven consecutive times with a single, balanced die. If you do can that in under one hour, stay away from me at the $50 NL tables!

bad luck - isn't it about 100,000:1 to lose with AA seven straight times? (assuming heads up throughout with a 4:1 edge which isn't quite the case here)

.2^7= 0.000128

To win win AA heads up seven times in a row is about 50:1 against btw...

.8^7 = .2

I moved from party poker to pokerstars because I kept getting my great hands cracked. I have had AA 19 times (3,700) at PS and I have won 100% of them. At Party I had more hands and was winning about 80% with AA which is more like normal.

Seven times in a row? One time a player told me that he missed a flopped flush draw 37 times in a row in live sessions. He could not believe it so he kept track.

Stranger things have happended.

I don't play at party anymore.

He was also holding the winning lottery ticket worth $300 million in one hand and a cure for AIDS in the other.

actually if it was .2 it would be 4:1 against, but I missed out a zero - it's o.o2 or 49:1
