Common bad play...

... by me.... (SH, 100NL, Crypto)

OTB Hero gets [6c][6s],
Fi (utg+1) bets $4
Hero calls and it's HU
Flop: [8s][9h][Kd] pot $9.50
Fi bets $6
Hero calls
Turn: [8c] pot $21.50
Fi checks
Hero Bets 17$
Fi reraise to $40
Hero folds

This is a typical hand where I loose plenty of cash. I figure his cb to be weak so I call with the intentions of taking him on the turn. Ofcourse he checks to turn and then I make a pretty weak bet of 17 into a 22 pot and he figures I'm not all that and fires away and I have to fold.
If my intentions are to win this hand I should reraise the flop already, right?? But perhaps my intentions shouldn't be to take it down??

How would you play it?

Villain bets $6 into a $9.50 pot on the flop - its just a standard CB Round, not 1/4 pot bet?

And floating to take it off him on turn with almost total air is just getting fancy at $100..no need and likely to be spewage IMHO..

I agree with excession, the majority of players at NL100 play so straight forward that you do not need to float with 4th pair.

The villain in this case took the standard line of a monster hand.

Yeah I messed up on the flop bet size but either way the same reasoning plays out, on that flop villain either has a big hand or nothing the way the hand plays out on the turn, turns out he has a monster so we fold and move on.

I'm not saying that I always call here, against a super tight PFR this is a fold. To call a float a terrible play is taking a weapon out of your arsenal, I have used this pretty sucessfully at $50 and $100 6 max on Cake, there are a bunch of players that do it well on Cake even at the smaller stakes, I have notes on multiple players "Likes to float the flop". Do you really just play pockets pairs for sets only and fold when you don't hit a set? I just cant see that as a profitable way to play 6 max. Maybe things are different for those who aren't stuck on the sites that allow Americans.

Well thanx for the input. I know I didn't play this very well, this is the kind of spots where I think one of my biggest leaks lies. I try to bluff it (position being my only advantage) but doesn't have the guts to stay put. I really should just fold. And perhaps I shouldn't consider his CB to be weak, well I don't really say it's WEAK but his bet doesn't seem very protective but then my line should be to make a large reraise or just fold to that flop.
FOLD FOLD FOLD FOLD just have to get it in my head that there is such a move even if I'm in position or being the PFR.................. FOLD FOLD FOLD
