Checkraising a position bet??

Postby Zuccala » Tue Aug 23, 2005 3:06 pm

When in the blinds and the flop gets check around to and LP or button who bets on the flop (a wimpy amount). How do you feel abiout a checkraise (pot size)? Just with overcards or a draw? He is prolly just betting his position. This has been working for me well ($50NL) and I am wondring if I am on a good streak of outcomes or is this gonna backfire??

I frequently do this. However, you can't have too many people in the hand AND when you CR it has to be more than the min.

Also, lots of guys like to call a CR on the flop (ego?). I often follow up with a 3/4 pot sized bet on the turn assuming a brick. Many just fold on the flop though.

Another advantage is say you CR, then lead 3/4 on turn and get called. Yuck. I check the river and a surprising amount of time villain will just check behind (confused by all this heat). Then you get to know what kind of cards he will call a CR with and you blast him more with your made hands (which also have more credibility now).
