Im liking this check raising the river thingy.
I limp UTG with 22. Another limper and then villian raises to $50. 2 LP callers, me and the other limper all call.
5 to the flop. I have #1100. Villian has me covered.
Pot is $265. The flop comes 833 rainbow. I check, check, villain bets $55. Folded back to me. No way he has a big pair with that little bet. I decide Im going to take it away on the turn and I call.
Pot is $375. The turn is a 2. Cha-Ching!. I change my plan now. I dont think he has anything so I check to let him catch something on the river. He bets $145. That doesnt reall surprise me. Ive seen him not want to give up with unimproved hands that he raised preflop. I call.
Pot is $665. The river is the money card. An Ace. I could be here, but i dont think he'll raise with AK. He'll probably just call. So I check, he bets $300 and I check raise all in. Its another $500 or so to him. The pot is $1820 or so, so hes getting 3.3:1. Hard to fold there.
He did fold though and said he had KK, but I dont believe him. Either way, his river bet is horrible. I think he had AQ/AJ type hand based on previous hands he played. Whether he had a big ace or KK, his bet is horrible.
If he had a big ace, my check raise or betting $300 probably accomlished the same thing although I think he'll call the check raise at least 33% of the time there. If he really had KK, then my check raise made me an extra $300.
Thoughts?
