Check-raise the flop?

Postby MVPSPORTS » Fri Apr 29, 2005 12:13 pm

I hit the trips, and usually bet out when there's a draw... but I didn't, not sure why, but I was kinda thinkin it was gonna bite me in the ass... I tried to not give him odds to call the river, but he did... I VERY reluctantly called the river... I was pretty sure he had the flush, but guess I just couldn't let go...

I raise that flop to at least $12 to make him pay for his draw. I wouldn't slow play a set on a flush board. On the turn, I make about a pot sized bet and if he still calls and hits his flush, his was wrong to do so with what you were charging him.

As you said, you should have protected the hand against the flush draw, and then bet strong on the turn to get him out of the hand. Slowplaying sometimes bites back, and it can be frustrating.
I wouldn't have called the river, with the third flush card hitting.

Yeah, I usually do bet out the flop, and not sure why I didn't except that they were pretty tight and I figured they would fold... By the time I bet the turn, I guess he figured he'd draw, cause I bet the pot at that point...

I am not sure how easily you get this particular guy of this draw. He is drawing to a straight, a flush, and a straight flush. In fact he has 12 outs to beat you. If I was him I would have raised the turn.
