Called a small raise with 65s, bet the flop?

Postby Stoneburg » Sat Oct 01, 2005 6:19 pm

I'm posting a lot of hands from todays session because I haven't played in a while due to being occupied with Battlefield 2 and Morrowind... computergames are massively -EV for sure. I felt a bit (read: very) rusty and felt I made a bunch of mistakes so I could sure use some analysis and help.

I always think aggressive is good..but this looks like a situation where a check-raise is gonna haunt you. If you check behind and hit your gutshot, there's a very good chance you'll bust someone. i would take the free card here with that in mind.

Yeah I was thinking about that Kenny. Basically I was weighing the probability of someone having a "monster" like AK or AA (or 22/33 45 of course) against the possibility that everyone was afraid of the Ace. I decided to "bluff with an out". Marginal decision I guess... I only have one guy after me though so IF those two checks infornt mean what they should mean (ie: No Ace) I should win most of the time if I can get past the guy behind me. I would guess that if I get past him 50% of the time it will be +EV to bet like this and he shouldn't have an A that often (and I have outs of course). Everyone folded this time.
