Bizarro 10/20 NL Hand.

This was one of the stranger hands I've played in a long time. My play on all streets, except preflop, is questionable. BB in this hand has $5500. My opinion of him is that he plays too many hands, and it is tough to bluff him out of a pot. Not quite sure if he just reads hands well, or if he just likes to call. He definitely has some LAGGY tendencies. MP in this hand has about $3800. There is some history between him and BB. Not sure what at this point, but they have made some snide comments about each others play. MP is loose, and has very odd betting patterns. I dont think he fully understands the game, especially concepts such as pot-odds. I have about $2300, and am UTG+1.

UTG limps, I raise to 100 with [8h] [9h]. MP and BB call, rest fold.

Flop [2h] [2c] [Qh] Pot = $350.

BB checks, I check (?), and MP bets $100. BB calls, I call.

Turn [2h] [2c] [Qh] [Jh] Pot = $650

BB checks, I check, MP bets $100. BB calls, I raise to 700. Both call.

River [2h] [2c] [Qh] [Jh] [Kh] Pot = $2750

BB checks, I check, MP bets $700. BB moves all-in for $4600, covering me ($1200 left) and MP ($2900 left). I'll leave the rest of the action out, and just pose this question: what the hell does BB have?

Like I said, my play was very unorthodox, but I like to mix up my play now and then. Very rarely do you see 3 way action on the turn like this - with 3 people putting in $700 a piece. Just comments / thoughts on the hand in general would be nice - there is a whole lot to discuss here.

Comments from a rookie:
Preflop: I like the preflop raise to disguise if you hit

Flop: I bet here especially if it is checked to me that way if I catch the heart I still rep AQ

Turn: You definetly have to bet here. Your check here is why you cant tell what BB has. IMO.

River: I fold and curse because I should have bet the flop and turn. LOL

If the heart hadn't fallen on the river I think you win this pot. You could have at least bet/raised the river. By raising preflop and then checking every street you showed weakness and openned the door to be outdrawn. The BB could have anything here with the weak bets he may even of had correct odds to be in this pot to the river. If he is extremely loose he could have anything here [Ah],2 K2 JJ.

BB could have flopped the overfull, too. Seems like a longshot on QQ or 22, but he just calls all the way, then moves in on the river...

Or he could have Ah. I figure he takes it down given your description. Then that leaves MP... Maybe QT with Th? or, assuming BB doesn't have Ah, maybe AQ with Ah.

While I'm not terribly enthusiastic about actually playing (or semi-bluffing) a flush draw on a paired board, I think I would have bet something like $250 or so into that flop (I feel like I'm really representing AA/KK, although I sometimes even bet QQ that way there depending on how the table is playing). I'm probably done with the hand (barring extremely passive betting) after that even though the turn makes the flush. I'd be trying to show it down for cheap with a 3-flush after that, if that's at all realistic with these players. The 4-flush makes the 9h just way too vulnerable imo, even though so many of the high flush cards are on the board.

I assume you do lay down on the river?

I am putting BB on a real monster like 22 or QQ.

I hate the flush/str8 draws on paired boards. In the past two days, I have got ute two times, being overaggressive with them to lose more than full buy ins in both hands; both being played very much like BB played this hand.

Dont know up there but here in NL$50 they seem to love to call-call-raise BIG with their monsters. Hat s why I am breaking something and folding to his river all in.

I think the only bad part of your play was the turn check, why? but, WTF do I know anyway?

I think a continuation bet on the flop would have been better. Gives you more info on what they have, you're repping a really good hand, win the pot there but still have outs etc etc.

BB might have [Ah]A. Quads also seems like a strong possibilty. I have no clue what MP has. Be sweet if he had the royal flush against quad 2's.

I think if you called this river bet you're crazy. :)
