Bet into raiser - when and how much?!

Postby rush » Wed Aug 10, 2005 4:02 am

Hiya guyz,

I recall from Brunsons books that he considers betting into the preflop raiser as a really strong play when flopping trips or a 2-pair.

For me this typiccally occurs after I overcall OOP with a low-mid pair. (Ie, I'm up against 2+ opponents)

Questions:

a.
I wonder how much you guys actually do bet in this situation?

b.
If the preflop raiser *always* makes a continuation bet, is this still a good play?

c.
Mixing it up with the occasional slowplay - what if there are additional preflop callers who have position on the raiser?

Thoughts on these issues much apprecated!

If there is another caller who has position on the preflop raiser, I often bet out about 75% of pot with all made trips, but also with any board pair showing. I find that the board pair looks scary to him, and that the extra caller also is scary so I often take the pot down that way.

Of course, I don't try that (betting the board pair) so often if I know I'll get called by some known CS.
