I've played 60 of these now, most at the $5.25 level, just to get a feel. I've played a couple at $10.50 and won them both. I mix up all the games, from NLHE, Fixed and PL O8 and Omaha. I'm at a 60% win rate, which is, I guess ok, but makes me feel unsatisfied.
What book is out there that has taught players to raise, raise and re-raise to the nth degree in these games? There's no thought process at all (or maybe I'm just dumb and actually like to think through a hand). I play tight aggressive, and I try to mix it up. The good news is that these maniacs will pay you off when you have a hand.
I just finished a HU PLO8 game with this guy and we got into a nice name-calling battle, which I try to fire them up to make mistakes when they are raising me like crazy and pissing me off. Anyways, I flopped a boat (pocket 8s and flop is K K 8). Turn is a 7, river is a 9. We get into the raising, re-raising battle, obviously he has a K. Before his final bet, which I call of course, he calls me a loser and sure enough, he had K 9.
I literally had steam coming out of my ears. I made the right play and it didn't work out, he chased and caught, that's ok. I think I take these heads up battles waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to personal.
