battle of the blinds

Postby briachek » Wed Aug 03, 2005 7:12 pm

SB was a rock. Very tight but not tremendously aggressive. Was this a good play or just asking for trouble.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (10 handed)

MP1 ($68.18)
MP2 ($106)
MP3 ($81.32)
CO ($10.22)
Button ($149.10)
SB ($45.35)
Hero ($100.50)
UTG ($27.95)
UTG+1 ($150.20)
UTG+2 ($101.75)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [Ah], [7d]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
8 folds, SB (poster) completes, Hero raises to $3, SB calls $3.

Flop: ($8) [3h], [5c], [7h] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $6, SB raises to $12, Hero raises to $24, SB folds.

Final Pot: $44

Results in white below:
No showdown. Hero wins $44.

I figured he thought I missed.

Nice win and I like your raise of the SB when its heads up and you have an ace (and position).

However, once he reraises you, I probably give the rock respect and fold. Aggression from rocks=fold in my book.

if people are rocks, they normally pay attention to the other rocks so therefore he knows I am tight. That flop missed many hands i would raise with so his check raise is often just saying "you have shit so fold"
