Im back! What do you think of this hand?

$1/$2 NL
Its my first hand of the session and I post in the cutoff and get [9s][7c].
2 limpers, I check and then the button who just lost most of his stack goes all in for $2.70. BB calls, both limpers call so I call.

Pot is $19. The flop comes [8c][7c][6s]. BB and 1st limper check, MP bets $8, I raise to $24 and then BB reraises the minimum to $40. MP folds and I call. I thought about pushing in, but after his min reraise I was afraid of a set. if he has a set I have no folding equity at all.

Pot is $106. The turn is the [7d]. BB bets $42. Im still afraid I could be in trouble but Im not ready to fold. The BB is not very good and overplays hands. he could easily have A8 or 86 or 98 or a number of other hands. I call.

Pot is $190. The river is the [Ac]. He checks. Hmmm. I dont think he would check a full house for fear that I would check behind and he definately didnt play it like a flush draw. I think Im good. I think he has 86. I push in for $155.

Thoughts?

Hmmmm... either you don't have 7c or it's not on the board.

Ok, without your read on BB, I'd say he's representing set or made straight--neither of which you can beat, of course. With your read, it's a different story, but I still just check the river.

You put a lot of pressure on the made straight with the all-in, but I think he'll call anyway. Even though he's not good, I think there are too many hands to which you're behind.

On a more general note: I think it's always important to realize the RANGE of hands which various bets can represent. I don't think it's typically possible to put an opponent on an exact hand. Your reads of 86 or A8 are both quite plausible (he may have those), but I can also see a trappy boat here or a scared straight, even a trappy flush (as you say, he played it a little weird if that's what he has, but still). The straight is less likely if he's inclined to overplay.

Oh, one other thing: I think I would have raised the flop a little harder the first time (like maybe $32?), but I do agree with just flat calling the minimum re-raise. I just think, as much strength as has been shown here, a river check is in order. You probably win it, but I'm not certain enough to want to move in there.

i dunno, i think u won, he was BB so he probably does have some 2 pair. Maybe 89 or an overpair, a poorly played one at that.

But is the all in on the river one of those bets where you're only called when you're beat, I think the hands that you beat here are folding to that bet most of the time.

I mustve had [9c][7s].

Hands like this sometimes confuse me. When the club hits, it may cause him to fold a hand like 2 pair because he thinks I have the flush. Im never sure how hard to bet the river when I think Im ahead, but when I think HE thinks he got rivered.

Obviously if I was willing to push all in, then I wasnt going to fold to an all in after I made a value bet. Like I said, theses hands confuse me an di guess I was hoping he might call out of frustration or thinking I was bluffing the flush card.
