Hand 1: I sometimes shut it down, sometimes continue to bet so I'd say either way is fine most of the time

Hand 2: ALWAYS raise, you can't have people think that they can lead into you for .50 cents and you'll fold because then when you do raise they'll assume you have a big hand. Plus I'd expect to see him fold to a raise about 70% of the time here.
