Anyone have a problem folding this?

Postby Twelver » Thu Aug 04, 2005 8:10 am

Villan is pretty tight VP$IP 17%, PFR 4%. He has $59 I have him covered.
NL $50 on Party.

I am dealt [Qd] [Qh] in CO. Folds to me and I make it $2 to go. Folds to Villan in SP and he makes it $8. I call

Pot = $16.50 (2 players)
Flop = [2h] [5h] [8s]
Villan leads out for $20. I fold.

Obviously I put him on KK or AA. Is this a super tight move, or me just playing scared?

I don't know why but I just did not want to play for my stack here. The weird thing is though if I had had KK instead of QQ I probably would have pushed without thinking about it. Why is it that I (and a lot of people) value KK so much more than QQ?

Is it really that much stronger of a hand?

I've got no problem with the fold. It just shows the power (for Villain) of betting a flop hard when you are ahead.

KK and QQ??? Yeah I guess KK is THAT much better because if you're in one of those battles of overpairs you should realistically only be dealing with the universe of JJ, QQ, KK, AA, and maybe AK (some play it that way). Okay, in that universe QQ is ahead only of JJ. Of the 5 it's trailing 2 , pushing 1 (QQ), and a coin flip with 1 (AK). Yuck only 2 of 5 winners. But KK is ahead of 3 of the 5 (because KK beats AK), and only trails 1.

So KK is 80% tie/win and QQ is only 40% tie/win. Big difference.

Thanks for breaking it down Tim...that makes a lot of sense.
